Major work elements include; temporary re-routing of electrical, communication, and mechanical utilities; selective demolition of reinforced concrete personnel access tunnel, and crane rail footings; rock excavation; installation of new cast-in-place reinforced concrete personnel access tunnel with integral crane rails and adjacent crane rail footings; reconstruction of drainage, electrical, and mechanical utilities; site grading and paving. 

These facilities will include:A new subterranean experimental hallA new above-grade support buildingReconfiguration of the existing Far Experimental Hall (FEH)Package A – TunnelingThis package includes design-build (D-B) delivery of the subterranean cavern, access tunnel, and transfer tunnel of ~26,000 SF, plus a portal structure.  The cavern liner must be finished (in some areas) with a surface that supports clean room requirements.
