Background: The mission of the NIAMS Flow Cytometry Section is to provide NIAMS scientists and collaborators access to state-of-the-art flow cytometry equipment and to offer training and assistance at all stages of the acquisition and analysis of flow cytometry data. The Flow Cytometry Facility (FCF) oversees the use of seven cytometers manufactured by BD Biosciences and one by Cytek Biosciences.

Additionally, the LMB has an antibody core which utilizes yeast in their nanobody development program and will also benefit from the acquisition of a flow cytometry system which is customized for high sensitivity and resolution of small particles.  The Apogee Flow Systems A60-MicroPLUS flow cytometer. was evaluated and determined to be the system most capable of fulfilling the requirements of the LMB. 

This acquisition is for the delivery of a BD FACSDiscover S8 Cell Sorter instrument, for the Flow Cytometry Section of NIAID’s Research Technology Branch, for state-of-the-art flow cytometry.
