This document describes a metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) system for the Metal Workingand Machining Shop Set (MWMSS). The MWMSS is an assemblage of machinists cutting, measuring, and welding equipment integrated into two one side expandable 8’x8’x20’ mobileshelters. The MWMSS was designed to support the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91Ethat combined the previous 44E (Machinist) and 44B (Metalworker/Welder).
The program will develop materials and a new additive manufacturing technology capable of simultaneously printing multiple materials with fine features at high speeds. The goal of the program is to demonstrate a novel functional microsystem that uses the AMME technology to create the mechanical structure and interface between individual microsystem components.
