AFATDS AXS Current Development Currently, the Army is developing the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) Artillery Execution Suite (AXS) as a micro-service, open architecture, hardware agnostic, application based, Fires solution (see Attachment 02). It provides an enduring architectural approach to enable mission adaptability and upgrades.
MFCS’s capabilities include position/navigation, weapon pointing (weapon applications only), ballistic computation, and the ability to digitally communicate with present and future digital fire support systems including the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) via Advanced Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System Improvement Program (ASIP) combat-net radios.
MFCS-M capabilities include weapon platform position with navigation capability, weapon pointing information, weapon’s ballistic solution computation, and the ability to communicate digitally with present and future digital fire support systems including the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) and Forward Observer System (FOS) via combat-net radios.
