The Chugach National Forest is seeking a cultural resource management contractor to complete cultural resource inventories within the projects’ area of potential effect (APE), totaling approximately 2642 acres. See attached PWS for more details.

The proposed contract requires the identification and mapping of current bark beetle infestations in the Prince George Forest District using helicopter surveys. Helicopter surveys are one method to identify priority locations for treatment, and to detect and monitor the extent of the current infestation.

The project goals to determine native insects present and the early detection of non-native wood boring beetles, such as bark and ambrosia beetles. This project will serve two purposes, first to allow for early detection of non-native forest pests at high-risk sites in the Delaware, and second, to survey bark and ambrosia beetle infestation of white oak species.

Conduct rotary-wing flights to detect spruce bark beetle, mountain pine beetle and Douglas-fir beetle on Crown land within the Bulkley, Cassiar, Kispiox, Lakes, Morice, Kalum, Nass Timber Supply Areas.
