Replacement of one set of 500 kV GIS circuit breakers and disconnect switches for MICA Project Description :British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (“BC Hydro”) requires the urgent replacement of a circuit breaker and associated disconnect switch that is part of the 500kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) system at BC Hydro Mica Generating Station.
The Bureau of Motor Vehicle Building main breaker is the same type and age as the main breaker at Harlow Building, 18 Elkins Lane, which catastrophically failed on June 8", resulting in total power loss to the building requiring all employees be sent home. it was due to that failure that other breakers were checked. Luckily, at that time, the replacement breaker was immediately available, and a contractor was secured to replace within days.
Existing three-phase units, 4, 8, and 11, will match existing electrical parameters per unit and all new Trane equipment will come with single point electrical entry, and with a manufacturer supplied disconnect breaker within the unit.All replacement units will come with economizing with local control, power exhaust according to existing design, and shall meet the minimum efficiency requirements according to existing energy code.Contractor shall provide
