The goal of this solicitation is to update VITAs broadband service offerings with additional broadband technologies and services through both wireline and wireless internet service providers, drive to better pricing through increased competition by including local and regional competitive local exchange carriers and easily expand the coverage areas where broadband internet services are available on state contracts.

The private internet service provider will operate, manage, and sell retail internet services over the publicly owned fiber optic backbone network in exchange for lease payments, revenue share, match contributions for grant applications, and/or new City network construction (or a combination thereof). The City intends to work with the private partner in developing comprehensive and competitive federal and state grant applications.
