The contractor has been involved in the project from its onset and is an integral part of the project since they provide us with a vessel that is a platform to perform the project along with a captain and crew as scientific partners to assist in data collection.
See also the attached e-mail from Captain Brian Leer dated 04/02/2024 supporting this choice. The quote from Jim Butler Chevrolet included a notation that running boards could be added. Clarification obtained from Matt Winkler of Jim Butler Chevrolet indicated that running boards could be purchased and installed at the manufacturer price of $646.00.
Before consulting with the AGO Ombudsman, interested parties must first address their concerns, issues, disagreements, and/or recommendations with the respective contracting officer for resolution.
Remaining crew will consist of a minimum of three (3) experienced fishermen (for a total of four (4) crew members; captain plus crew). One of the fishermen must be an engineer with one (1) year of experience aboard fishing vessels and fully knowledgeable of the charter vessel and equipment. ***Additional requirements for the vessel are outlined in Section 2.10- Scope and Deliverables.
The EPIRB must be up to date on all Coast Guard registration and inspection.CREW REQUIREMENTSMinimum crew shall consist of Captain, engineer-mate, cook, and deckhand which shall be fulfilled by a minimum of 2 people for smaller vessels that won’t run continuously or a minimum of four crew that may be able to run continuously.The Captain shall have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a master of a vessel comparable in size to the vessel selected
SERVICES REQUIRED: DFO has a requirement to hire a fishing vessel between 40 to 44 feet in overall length, with the service of a captain and a one crew member. The crew member is to assist in boarding’s and gear inspections as requested by a Fishery Officer.
