a class II bicycle lane (buffered when possible) between the SR-24 off-ramp and the BART station, add green paint to conflict zones, and install sharrows at the Theatre square area leading to and from the St.
II bicycle lanes and 7.87 miles of bicycle route signs around the Bakersfield College area.
Also, reconstructing curb ramps to meet ADA compliance, filing sidewalk gaps, reconfiguring the roadway by reducing the number of travel lanes allowing for the installation of buffered Class II bicycle lanes. Traffic signal modifications at the intersection of Tulare and Fresno Street. Please see attached Grant Application Preliminary Plans for reference.
Additional improvements include reconstruction of several non-ADA complaint curb ramps, installation of new pedestrian push buttons, median nose adjustments, drive approach reconstruction, sidewalk repairs, traffic loop replacements, road reconfiguration to include buffered Class II bicycle lanes, new signage and stripping.
The project incorporates a “Complete Street” with completed sidewalk gaps, ladder-style crosswalks to increase visibility, bus turnouts to provide enhanced access to public transit, as well as Class II bicycle lanes.
The work to be done includes, but is not limited to: a comprehensive pavement rehabilitation (Cold In-Place Recycling 4”, 6’ daylight/edge grind, profile plane 0.15’ at conforms and pave HMA surface course 0.15’) of the existing roadway with roadway shoulder widening (12” max. deep-lift HMA, width varies 0.5’-4.5’); drainage improvements at intersection of Vineyard Road and Eucalyptus Avenue; inclusion of Class II and Class III bicycle facilities
