Background The Wattis 2 Mine Fire Project is located in Carbon County, approximately 14 miles west-southwest of Price, Utah. The project area encompasses approximately one acre of land that lies on the eastern boundary of the Manti-La Sal National Forest. Three identified mine features are located in the project area and are known to overlie an actively burning coal seam ignited by a wildfire in 2012.
