The Program funds maintenance and operations of government unique, highly modified aircraft at several NASA field centers. Not every instrument or concept requires these high value assets for testing. The Program also encourages the use of commercial aviation services for projects where commercial aviation services are available and proven to be safe and reliable.

All commercial air service (CAS) providers must be vetted by OAM or an approved agent (usually a DOE/NNSA Aviation Manager or Aviation Safety Officer) and listed on the Accepted Operators List in accordance with DOE 440.2C, Chg.1. The AOL may not be used to circumvent contracting rules and regulations. If a selected CAS provider is not listed on the AOL they must first be vetted, and listed, before they can commence work.

Dyess AFB will be conducting an Air Show 22 April, 2023, with a mandatory practice day 21 April, 2023. This Air Show will require a refueling truck and 100LL AVGas. The 100LL AVGas must meet quality requirements in accordance with commercial aviation standards, as the Government does not have the capability to test this type of fuel at Dyess AFB.
