The authorized project provides for a 60-foot-wide and 4-foot-deep Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) main channel, and the 40-foot wide and 4-foot-deep channel leading to a turning basin. From the channel entrance in Ipswich Bay to the turning basin is approximately 5 nautical miles. The proposed work consists of mechanically dredging approximately 37,000 cubic yards (cy) of sandy and silt material from the 4-foot channel (below Mean Lower Low Water). Approximately 14,000 cubic yards (cy) of sandy material will be placed at the Ipswich Bay nearshore site while the remaining 23,000 cy of silty material will be hauled by scow to placement site in the Isle of Shoals North Disposal Site in Federal waters.
