Large rail gaps and misalignments exist on both the gatehouse and powerhouse bridge crane rails. These rails rest on structural I-beams. This misalignment has resulted in crane rail damage. The rails are being replaced in order to maintain the bridge crane functionality for the remainder of the crane’s life. The new rails will be aligned to CMAA 70 standards.

The work includes replacement of the powerhouse bridge crane rails and incidental related work. The crane rails are the runway for the existing 150-ton, top-running bridge crane, which is to be replaced by a new similar bridge crane with a main hoist rated for 165-tons (to be solicited under a separate contract at a later date).

Replacement chemical anchor bolts shall be galvanized steel.New 104-lbs tailrace crane rails and crane rail hardware (rail clips, splice bars, splice bar bolts/nuts/washers) shall be installed per Crane Manufacturers Association of American (CMAA) Specification No. 70 alignment standards in the same relative position and at the same gage as the existing 105-lbs tailrace crane rails.
