The Cryofracture process is basically freezing the munitions in liquid nitrogen and then taking the munition and crushing it into smaller pieces using a hydraulic press. The Cryofracture process at TEAD will play the role of pre-processing (crushing) of selected HE filled munitions, such as grenades, bomblets and 40mm rounds to be demilitarized in the existing Ammunition Peculiar Equipment (APE) 1236 test furnace.
