NIDA IRP utilizes a digital polymerase chain reaction (dPCR) type of analysis. This technology uses the “partition principle” to quantify templates by dividing a typical 25 microliter reaction (a fluorescent probe-based “TaqMan assay”) into thousands of uniformly sized end-point reactions which are counted using automated fluorescent imaging.
