The Counterscarp, or `moat wall¿ is one of the main attractions for nearly all visitors arriving at Garden Key on the park¿s two transportation concessions.Garden Key is the location of the park¿s only public use dock and small boat slips. The main dock supports both park operations providing moorage for the Park supply ship, and the Park¿s only ferry concession which brings 175 people to the park per day.

The Coast Guard Station at Alameda, does not have moorage available, requiring the Fairweather to seek other accommodations. Bay Ship and Yacht has the capacity to meet this requirement for moorage beginning November 22nd through 29th, and is this requirement is a natural follow-on to 1305M221PNMAN0336.The sole source determination is based on the Fairweather’s upcoming dry dock on at Bay Ship & Yacht.

The applicant plans to continue use of their pier, dock, and floats for vessel moorage.   Public notice of this preliminary written decision will be posted on the Alaska Public Notice System website for 30 calendar days. The public may provide written comments to DMLW during that time.  Additionally, notice of this preliminary decision will be given to adjacent landowners.

DNR DMLW Southeast Region has issued a final decision to lease state land for a 25-year lease authorization for their pier/dock/float system to be used for commercial vessel moorage in Ketchikan, Alaska. The Final Findings and Decisions can be found in the attachments below.   A person affected by this decision who provided timely written comment or public hearing testimony on this decision may appeal it, in accordance with 11 AAC 02.
