Eating disorders are associated with increased risk of mortality and morbidity. As ofAugust 2020, eating disorders became the fifth most prominent mental health condition. Additionally, a recent review of 70 research articles revealed eating disorder symptom severity and incidence of probable diagnoses appear to be elevated duringthe COVID-19 pandemic.
The Contractor shall be responsible for providing a full spectrum of residential services for various eating disorders as well as dual diagnosis which combines psychological and emotional support with nutritional guidance. Eating Disorder programs shall be tailored to the needs of each individual and their family.
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 8 (VISN 08) is looking for certified, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), Small Business (SB), and/or other than small business sources for Community Based Residential Eating Disorders Treatment and Diagnosis.

from qualified applicants, including but not limited to, licensed clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and eating disorder treatment centers to provide fee-for-service therapy for clients diagnosed with eating disorders.
The current protocol uses the structure of an existing, evidence-based protocol for managing substance use disorders in primary care (i.e., Screening Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment [SBIRT]), but adapts the content to be relevant for eating disorders. Thus, SBIRT for eating disorders (SBIRT-ED) will allow primary care providers (PCPs) to effectively detect and manage eating disorders in their patient populations.
