To advance that plan forward, WMATA is rebuilding two of its bus garages (Northern & Bladensburg bus garages) to include battery electric bus (BEB) charging equipment to charge up to 300 BEBs. A third BEB garage, Cinder Bed, is in the design phase. The rest of WMATA¿s bus garages will need to be either re-built or retrofitted in the coming years to provide infrastructure in support of the zero-emission fleet goal.

There will be three electric bus charging bays. Auto parking will be provided in a separate parking lot south of the bus charging infrastructure with two-way auto access onto Dam Road Ext. A total of 19 spots will be included to be used for employees or park- and-ride; of which four will be available for EV charging and one designated for a disabled placard.

INTENT : This Request for Bid will result in the immediate purchase and delivery of Phase 1 equipment consisting of a 3000A switchboard for the Capital Transit Facility (CTF), a 2000A switchboard for the Valley Transit Center (VTC) and Phase 2 equipment, a 3000A switchboard with Program Logic Controller (PLC)-based transfer system or approved equivalent.
