Naval nuclear reactors are a major source of power and energy.  Energy from a reactor can be harvested into an energy storage system, namely electrochemical (e.g., batteries, fuel cells), that can be used for purposes other than for providing emergency power.  The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is issuing a request to evaluate energy storage system concepts that would interface with naval nuclear reactors.
