As of July 2021, there were10 VAMC with Pathway to Excellence designation and more being designated every month. The designation is awarded to organizations for four years. The Rboert J Dole VAMC began the application process for designation in 2021.
The Infectious Disease physicians and is the only entity currently offering the Center of Excellence of designation in accordance with meeting Centers for Disease Control (CDC) criteria.
Murphy VA Hospital was the 1st VA in Texas to achieve this designation and the 5th VA nationally. As of July 2021, there are 10 VAMC with Pathway to Excellence designation (to include North Texas VAMC). The designation is awarded to organizations for four years. South Texas Veterans Health Care System will have begun the application process for designation in 2021.
