Artillery (PA-55 and PA-71/A) Fiber Containers
The PA-55 Artillery Fiber Container is a spirally wound fiber tube used for 105mm artillery rounds. It has a telescoping cover on each end. Each cover has a crimped metal end. The windings of the PA-55 Fiber Container consist of layers of kraft paper, foil, and asphalt material. The outer dimensions are a maximum 5.16" dia. X 31.88" max length. The PA-55 has inner kraft tubes which support a steel washer near the containers center.
The 120mm PA167 Fiber Container is used on the M929 Smoke, M983 IR Illuminating, and M930 VL Illuminating Mortar Cartridges.The estimated quantities for this two year contract are 40,839 PA175 Fiber Containers, 14,000 PA189 Fiber Containers, 87,927 PA162 Fiber Containers, and 114,277 PA167 Fiber Containers.
As previously mentioned under Pre-Solicitation Notice W15QKN-22-B-0001, the US Army Contracting Command - New Jersey, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ in support of the Project Manager Combat Ammunition Systems (PMCAS), hereby issues an Invitation for Bid (IFB) to procure the 60mm (PA175 and PA189), 81mm (PA162), and 120mm (PA167) Fiber Containers in support of 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm Mortar Cartridges.Container Drawing Number National Stock
The PA-71/A Fiber Container provides packaging for the 105mm PGU-43/B Training and Practice Cartridge, the PGU-44/B HE Cartridge and the PGU-45/B High Fragmentation Cartridge.The estimated quantities for this two (2) year contract are 57,296 PA-55 Fiber Containers and 209,152 PA-71/A Fiber Containers.
The purpose of this market survey is to obtain current information on the industrial capability to provide the Artillery (PA-55 and PA-71/A) and Mortar (PA162, PA167, PA175, and PA189) Fiber Containers to the warfighter for FY25-FY30 military requirements.Please refer to the attachments for a detailed description.
