The Park boasts two fishing piers, a 238-site campground, a 32-lane boat launch, multiple picnic areas, a 6.8-mile paved shared use trail, nature trail, canoe/kayak trail, a historic fort, a pet park with beach access, and miles of undisturbed beach. Visitors enjoy boating, kayaking, bicycling, beach-going, nature appreciation, camping, heritage tourism, fishing, picnicking, and numerous other outdoor activities.

Included among these facilities and amenities are a new boat ramp on Pretty Lake at Shore Drive, and a new fishing pier adjacent to the Granby Street Bridge. In addition to these two projects, the City may use the services of the selected firm for design, rehabilitation, or repair of other boat ramps, piers, kayak & canoe launches, docks, promenades, or related facilities.

Duke Energy is currently constructing a canoe and kayak launch with associated parking along the east shore of the park. In order for Gaston County to better oversee and operate the park, a pre-fabricated guard shack will be installed along Boat Launch Rd. The site will need to be designed to prepare for the installation of the guard shack, including utility connection and widening of the road to allow for entering and exiting traffic.
