Planned as a key instrument in this field the Gamma-Ray Energy Tracking Array (GRETA) is the realization of a full 4π γ-ray tracking detector, capable of reconstructing the energy and three-dimensional position of γ-ray interactions within a compact sphere of high-purity germanium crystals. The GRETA geometry is based on a dodecahedron with 12 regular pentagon and 120 irregular hexagons with two unique shapes that tile the geodesic sphere.
Applications: Gamma-ray or X-ray Spectroscopy X-ray Technicians Quality control engineers Detector operators that rely upon the accurate measurement of gamma-/x-rays, neutrons, or other particles. Development Status: TRL 5, technology has been demonstrated in a laboratory environment with real-world conditions.
B-1 Background A portable gamma ray detection system consists of a background radiation shield, a scintillation detector, an electronics interface, and a computer system to analyze data. This requisition focuses on a complete field deployable portable gamma-ray spectrometer system. The Winchester Engineering and Analytical Center (WEAC) is the sole federal laboratory performing the analysis of radioactivity in food products.
