The digital electronics module(s) needs to be compatible with the high purity germanium (HPGe) detectors. The NIST gamma-ray spectrometry system has been using the Genie-2000 and GammaVision software for data acquisition. The digital electronics need to be compatible with one of these acquisition programs. The current system uses analog electronics to process the detector signal that goes into the data acquisition program.

To fulfill its mission, the Neutron Physics Group of the Radiation Physics Division utilizes two high purity germanium-crystal gamma-ray (HPGe) detectors for an Alpha-Gamma device, which is operated on a beam line at the NIST Center for Neutron Research. The two Ortec HPGe detectors have reached their end-of-life. Subsequently, NIST requires two replacement HPGe detectors.Note: Reference attachments for complete Combined Synopsis/Solicitation
