These radios are embedded in the GPS rover units to simplify the communication process. The 410-470MHz frequency band is the established wavelength for GPS communications (FCC determination).o Communication and corrections broadcast via TCP/IP (NTRIP), : RTK style of surveying requires that GPS corrections be either generated by a "Base" station GPS unit and received by the "Rover" GPS unit.

The service is required throughout all NRCS service areas in CA.NRCS has made a major investment over the last 20 years and purchased over 20 Trimble GPS survey grade units for all of our Service Centers and Area offices.These machines continue to provide a necessary service to employees of NRCS in promoting our federal programs. To acquire the sub-centimeter accuracy, each Trimble survey unit requires 2 receivers (base and rover).
