LF-60 Renovate Hangar for HSC-26 and Repair CAtilever Hangar Structure, Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk, Virginia

Hangar (approx. 18,700 SF) must be remediated of lead paint and provided new bi-directional crane. Modify support areas (approx. 11,200 SF First Floor and 8,500 SF Second Floor) to suit Activity program. Project to include temporary shoring of the hangar cantilevers while threaded rod connections are repaired.

No facsimile responses will be honored.Objective: The primary objective of this Project is to modify JPATS existing hangar structure and install a tail door in each hangar bay with sufficient vertical and horizontal clearance to fully enclose a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The hangar structure will have a conventional shallow foundation with concrete walls and structural steel columns supporting a concrete roof on structural steel beams/trusses. Facilities will be constructed with features to meet Guams severe wind, seismic, and corrosive environmental conditions. Further, this project will procure furniture, fixtures and equipment.Estimated range is from $50,000,000 to $100,000,000.

The purpose of the Engineering Report is to analyze the loading on and reinforcement of the existing hangar structure in all four hangars in way of the proposed new Fall Arrest System.  The design of the Fall Arrest System will vary for each hangar as each are unique.  The design of the Fall Arrest System should not significantly disrupt or modify existing hangar features required for normal operations. 

Hangar will include support spaces for paint mixing, paint storage, gear and equipment storage, electrical, mechanical and communications rooms, change rooms, shower facilities, and administrative offices.The hangar structure will be sized to accommodate MV-22 and CH-53K aircraft. The corrosion control bay will be provided with a pre-manufactured aircraft blast and a paint booth each sized to accommodate H-1 and H-60 aircraft.
