Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) are conditions in the environments in which people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks. They are social, economic, and environmental factors which shape our health.
The Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) is soliciting proposals from qualified entities to provide Health Equity and Data Analysis services.
This program promotes health equity through trauma-informed forensic interviewing and increased access to quality medical care for children ages 12 and below who experience child abuse and maltreatment including but not limited to; neglect, physical abuse, child sexual abuse, incest, and rape. Priority populations include children from communities experiencing health disparities in Iowa.
These researchers will conduct health services research focusing on, but not limited to, racial and ethnic minority groups; people with disabilities; members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community; individuals with limited English proficiency; individuals residing in rural areas; and individuals adversely affected by persistent poverty or inequality.
Based upon feedback obtained through surveys and focus groups with the represented communities, the Health Equity Council is currently seeking to fund proposals to address the following objectives: 1) Increase positive interactions between police and community, 2) Increase feelings of safety among K-12 students, 3) Reduce mental health stigma and improve access to mental health support services, 4) Increase access to safe housing options, 5) Reduce
