The Federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provided funds through the State Fiscal Recovery Fund to expand the Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA) programs throughout California. These grants shall be for Economically Disadvantaged Communities.
The Budget Act of 2021 provided an additional $95,000,000 to fund all applicants who applied to RFA MHSSA_001 but were not awarded a grant. In addition, the Budget Act of 2021 provided $85,000,000 to fund grants for the remaining counties who did not previously apply for MHSSA grant funds. These funds were awarded through RFA MHSSA_002. Fifty-five (55) city/county mental health entities were awarded grants through the previous procurements.
