On Sept. 30, 2022, NASA extended the period of performance for the Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. contract. The  extension will run from Oct. 1, 2022, through Oct. 31, 2022.  In addition, one one-month option, with a period of performance of Nov. 1, 2022 through Nov. 31, 2022, was also added to the contract.  The proposed extension is based upon the exclusion found at Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1 and 41 United States Code 3304(a)(1), which authorizes other than full and open competition when there is only one responsible source, and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.

Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition for sole source acquisition of liquid helium for Kennedy Space Center. The contract action was based upon the exclusion found at Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1 and 10 United States Code 2304(c)(1), which authorizes other than full and open competition when there is only one responsible source, and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
