This will support improved access to high-speed internet via satellite service to unserved and underserved homes and businesses across Ontario. As a first step in this competitive process, IO has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to identify qualified Satellite Internet Service Providers (Satellite ISPs) based on their relevant capacity and deployment experience to deliver high-speed internet service through satellite.

The optical payload for this satellite requires high speed modems for signal conversion. The first modem will support users at a variety of speeds dependent on user needs, while the second modem will be used for cross-links between relays and the space-to-ground link.
