BackgroundThe Globe Hollow Water Treatment Plant (GHWTP) uses a sedimentation basin containing four single chambers to remove precipitated solids from the drinking water. Sediments are removed by a chain driven aluminum framed float. Occasional maintenance requires water treatment operators to walk out over the water on an approximately 6-inch-wide concrete wall that separates the individual sedimentation chambers.
