This is a synopsis for the repair of the C-5 Ram Air Turbo pump (RAT) is used to provide pressure to the No. 2 hydraulic system for limited flight control use in the event of an in flight emergency such as a multiple engine failure. The RAT, which is located in the forward portion of the left main landing gear pod, consists of a pressure pump and a six-bladed turbine which drives a fixed displacement hydraulic pump.
