The Opioid Affected Youth Initiative was awarded through the Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), in the amount of $533,057, beginning in October 2021. This funding supports trauma therapy for children and their caregivers, training and support for foster, kinship and adoptive parents, bereavement groups for children, parenting classes, and the continuous collection and reporting of data.
JUVENILE JUSTICE SERVICES The mission of Juvenile Justice Services (JJS) is to provide qualitative rehabilitative services and treatment for delinquent and at-risk juveniles in the least restrictive environment. JJS is committed to improving public safety and reducing juveniles’ delinquent behavior in the State of New Mexico.
STAFFING AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE REQUIREMENTS: Criminal offense and child abuse screening shall be conducted and documented to assure that no staff member has a criminal record involving moral turpitude or a founded complaint of child abuse (see page 22). A plan must be in place to update the screening annually.
