The requested Thermal Lab Lifetime Support Plan must be procured from TA Instruments - Waters L.L.C. under the authority of FAR Part 12, FAR Part 13. The service must be through a company that manufactures parts that can be used to repair the equipment in the Thermal Laboratory if it ever needs to be repaired.
The purpose of this requirement is to acquire a new custom multiphoton microscope that would satisfy the following three needs for the Lutas Lab: 1) fluorescence lifetime imaging suitable for following neurons in awake, behaving mice; 2) fast and sensitive photon collection in multiple wavelengths; and 3) versatile photostimulation concurrent with fluorescence lifetime imaging.
Most importantly, Mad City labs provides scientific support for custom applications throughout the lifetime of the system. Research in the Rodgers lab hinges on the ability to perform complex single-molecule experiments to understand how RNAs and proteins interact to form ribonucleoproteins involved in gene expression.
