Project SummaryThe Laboratory of Immune System Biology (LISB) in the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts research in fundamental and applied aspects of immunology. The major research activities of LISB are focused on the basic genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology of the immune system, as well as on human diseases informed by these more basic studies.

The new instrument will be housed in a Biosafety Level II/III laboratory, which no special plumbing, electrical, or special air required as modification to the laboratory is not allowed. This cell analyzer will be utilized to make informed predictions as to how the body will respond when challenged with various microbes and vaccine formulations.

Background The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), Laboratory of Immune System Biology (LISB) investigates basic aspects of innate and adaptive immune function, with an emphasis on how the body, and more specifically, different cell types within the body discriminate between self and non-self.

This is in support of SARS-CoV-2 studies and ongoing research being conducted by the Laboratory of Immune System Biology.The Laboratory of Immune System Biology is studying the systems biology of the immune system on a global scale and at single cell resolution. Proteomic assays allow profiling of hundreds of proteins in parallel in body fluids.
