Pierce County Department of Emergency Management’s project; Understanding Food Processing Capabilities to Support Life-Sustaining Commodities includes the following components: •Identifying key local food production companies to include the agriculture sector.
These resources include life supporting, life sustaining IRR commodities such as; but not limited to water, meals, cots, tarps, plastic sheeting, blankets, sandbags, generators, and fuel needed to lessen damage before or after a disaster.
The resources include life supporting and life sustaining commodities, such as plastic sheeting, which is used to temporarily cover the roofs of survivors’ damaged homes.
These resources include life supporting, life sustaining IRR commodities such as, but not limited to; water, meals, cots, tarps, plastic sheeting, blankets, sandbags, generators, and fuel needed to lessen damage before or after a disaster. FEMA requires additional commodities on these islands, due to unavailable warehousing space, and minimum full time FEMA personnel in the CNMI, Guam, and AS.
Trailers and containers are required for the pre-positioning of life-saving and life-sustaining commodities and equipment at FEMA's Distribution Centers (DC) and Manufactured Housing Units (MHU) located in Tracy, CA; Atlanta, GA; Fort Worth, TX; Frederick, MD and Selma, AL. This specific requirement is for DC Frederick, DC Atlanta, DC Fort Worth, DC Tracy, and MHU Selma.
The proposed secure facility will consist of one single story office building of approximately 34,000 sf containing office space, an emergency operations center, shared training rooms, support areas, and appurtenances, a separate warehouse building with loading docks of approximately 20,000 square feet containing a vehicle maintenance and repair bay, support spaces, appurtenances, and warehousing spaces for life-sustaining commodities.
Since FEMA is tasked with responding to disasters with minimal launch time, it is always essential that FEMA has safe andclean warehouse spaces to move, load, and transport life-saving and life-sustaining disaster commodities during disaster operations.
