The facility utilizes a combination of chemical\nand physical treatment processes, and primary solids removal coagulants include aluminum sulfate and\npolymers.\n\nWaste residuals at the CAWTF are generated from solids removal blow-down and filter backwashes. The\nTown of Cary manages residuals handling and treatment on-site at the CAWTF through the final\ndewatering process. Residuals are thickened and dewatered by centrifuges.

For temperatures down to 5°C (dew point) no gas flow is required; down to -10°C dry gas flow is required; down to -20°C dry gas flow and cooled circulating fluid within 25°C of the operating temperature are required; -40°C dry gas flow, cooled circulating fluid within 25°C of the operating temperature and additional windowed jacket are required. The temperature can be held constant with ±0.02°C precision and can be rapidly changed.
