PROJECT SCOPEThe procurement requires the replacement of the existing small lock machinery and electrical programmable logic controls at the LWSC, WA.
Anthony Falls (USAF) lock and dam tainter gate operating machinery replacement project. The work site is in Minneapolis, MN (Hennepin County). Using USACE supplied plans and specifications, the contractor will accomplish the following summary Scope of Work: This work involves replacement of the tainter gate operating machinery at the USAF lock and dam. The tainter gate itself will remain in place.
The buildings are located at the top of the Charleroi dam, and house the dam gate operating machinery and controls. No utilities will be made available in execution of this work. There is no elevator access to the dam / Machinery houses. The Contractor shall access the dam / Machinery houses via the abutment side of dam and walk up the stairs within the dam pier to the machinery house level.
The predominant type of building construction is low-rise steel framed masonry for the lock operations, office and facility maintenance shop buildings, and steel for the storage and vehicle/heavy equipment shops.Specific Facility Structures:Eisenhower and Snell Locks: Upstream and downstream control houses, Hands-Free Mooring (HFM) buildings, center buildings, the Eisenhower Lock Vessel Traffic Control (VTC) building, compressor buildings, Visitors
Once work has been accomplished coordination will be required to ensure that the lock is properly rewatered, bulkheads removed, and main lock put back into operation per the schedule. Depending on the size of the contractor’s barge mounted crane, multiple iterations of dewatering and rewatering may be required.
