The Hexagon LSD46 hardware shipset for the Machinery Control System (MCS) is a commercial item developed, designed, and produced solely by Hexagon US Federal, Inc. Hexagon's hardware is the only of its kind that will match the technical specifications required by shipyard fabricated foundations and mounts.
The NOAA ships Henry Bigelow, Oscar Dyson, Ronald Brown, and Nancy Foster have highly specialized Machinery Control systems. These Machinery Control systems monitor and control all machinery on the vessels, including diesel generators, propulsion systems, pumps, alarms and tanks. If Machinery Control systems fail the vessel is rendered unable to move on its own power.
