The City of Calgary (The City) is seeking information and details from organizations on available options that can provide an electrical power management microgrid solution for Calgary Transit (CT). Respondents are encouraged to present as many ideas as available, so long as they meet or exceed the key requirements detailed in 2.3.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION TEAD will install a new Standby Generator System and associated digital controls to provide a central means of controlling peak demands to eliminate or greatly reduce TEAD electrical demand charges. System will consist of two (2) NG or NG/D powered 1500 KW generators or three (3) 1000 KW generators or four (4) 750 KW generators and central controls capable of interfacing with a soon to be installed Microgrid (by others).
The microgrid system will incorporate: a new 460kW non-tracking new carport structure, Photovoltaic (PV) solar array, a 275kW tier 4 compliant peak shaving diesel generator, a 660kwh/105kW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and a 4,000 gallon fuel tank. The microgrid system will include a master microgrid controller, switchgear, synchronization control, and automated distribution switch controlling the PREPA grid connection of Ramey.
