The requirement is for third-party payments for emergency and referral care of military working animals (MWA), to include military working dogs (MWD) and military working equines (MWE). This requirement covers MWAs across the Eastern region of the United States, to include Fort Belvoir, VA, Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Gordon, GA, and Fort Knox, TN.
The intent of this contract is for the Contractor to pay non-DoD veterinary facilities for services rendered to DoD-owned animals. Not all military Veterinary Treatment Facilities or Centers have the capability to provide specialty or emergency veterinary treatments required as standard of care for DoD-owned animals. As a result, those DoD-owned animals must be referred to a non-DoD veterinary treatment facility within the civilian community.
Emergency Medical Services Requirements for Military Working Animals GENERAL REQUIREMENT: Emergency Medical Service providers for MWD must provide advanced medicine, neurology, surgery, ophthalmology and critical care.
