The Matanuska Electric Association Eklutna power station provides power generally north and east of Eagle River and much of the Matanuska Valley utilizing natural gas fired engines with diesel used as an ignition primer. In the event that natural gas might become unavailable the plant would be fueled by the diesel stored on site.
