The work of this project generally consists of General Conditions, General Contractor Project Management, General Contractor Profit and Overhead, Bonds & Insurance, Selective Demolition, site clearing and grubbing, Pipe and Tube Railings, Carpentry; Protective Covers (Shade Structure), Custom GFRC Playground Sculptures, Play Equipment and Structures, Site Furnishings, Cast Aluminum Entry Signage, and more.
The work consists of: Removal of the existing play structure, concrete curbing and wood fiber surfacing materials; installation of new water utility lines and drainage system; grading; installation of new play structures, ornamental features, art sculptures, tables, benches, drinking fountains, and other site furnishings; installation of new surfacing for pathways and the play areas; installation of short retaining walls and perimeter fencing; installation
The existing facility consists of a circular park with an amphitheater, a visual art building with studio space, gallery and wooden floor studio as well as various fountains, plazas, play pieces and passive areas with sculpture pieces. The site is in an urban setting at the center of a major metropolitan area of South Florida.
Specific improvements include a splash pad, play equipment installation, specialty concrete sculpture, picnic shelter, pre-manufactured restroom, irrigation, landscaping, and other work indicated in the Contract Documents. This project is funded through grant funds provided by the Recreation and Conservation Office of the state of Washington.
Park design elements include the Big Dipper framed by seating walls and light bollards; the experiential Alum Creek water play river; compass rose; and the North Star sculpture associated with this RFP/Call for Artists to represent tools that may have been used for portions of their freedom route. The development will be rounded out with a wetland feature, gathering spaces, seating, and landscaping.
