Laser Powder Directed Energy Deposition (LP-DED) of GRCop-42 with a Green Laser
The Colorado School of Mines (“Mines”) seeks bids for a Directed Energy Deposition (“DED”) Additive Manufacturing (“AM”) machine (“Machine”) on a “FOB Destination, prepay and add” basis. Mines requires a blown powder Directed Energy Deposition (“DED”) Additive Manufacturing (“AM”) machine (“Machine”) capable of fabricating...
Task 2.1 – Continuous large-scale dedicated machine development using blown powder directed energy deposition (DED) for fabrication of integral- channel thin-walled nozzle components and witness test specimens.b.
NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) has a requirement for a small-scale ultrasonic rePowder atomizer capable of converting small form factor solid refractory metal feedstock (bar, sheet, scrap, sponge, rod, foil, wire, piece metal) into spherical and near-fully dense powder in the powder size distribution (PSD) for Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) and Laser Powder Directed Energy Deposition (LP-DED) additive manufacture (AM).

As part of this mission, NETL has an immediate need for a dual wire- and powder-fed Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing (AM) machine to support research in metal additive manufacturing. The machine shall have maximum flexibility for supporting a wide range of DOE and NETL research projects and also include robust in-site processing monitoring and closed-loop control.
The machine is used regularly for the removal of Additively Manufactured (AM) parts built with Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED) machines to conduct research in the metals-based additive manufacturing technologies for the purpose of developing and deploying advances in measurement sciences.
