    Predatory birds gather at the outfall to capture and eat the exiting fish. To deter birds from eating fish, a pump and sprinkler system was installed. The current hazing system for the McNary Juvenile outfall pipe has had a number of problems. The system has 2 separate configurations and 2 different sprinkler/water cannon configurations all of which have failed completely or have continued maintenance/operational problems.

    They are covered by netting to control predatory birds. Each tank can hold up to 13,000 6-8" fish. The trout will remain in these tanks until they are ready for stocking. Brood Stock Raceways consist of 20 raceways 50' long by 6' wide. Brood stock are the fish that provide the eggs needed for use in the hatch house.
