Currency Facility has a requirement to procure up to four (4) Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Coating Systems that will apply a uniform protective coating to electro-formed nickel intaglio printing plates.The first system will be installed at the BEP’s Washington, DC Currency Facility (DCF). Initial testing and optimization will occur at the DCF.

The BEP is preparing to transition from applying a wear-resistant coating to these intaglio plates by the galvanic process to coating using a physical vapor deposition (PVD) process.Before coating using the PVD process, the intaglio plates must be dried to remove remaining liquid on the surface from a previous rinse process.
