Secret Tactical Data Networks (TDN) systems, voice relay and bridging between unique tactical voice systems. ROBE is an airborne, roll on/roll off Tactical Data Link and RF Payload. The Government seeks information on the viability and potential synergies of merging both of these capabilities to effectively support the warfighter.
This RFI is for a Tactical Aerostat asset for potential use in small combat outposts, Forward Operating Base (FOB), or retrograde operations. The intent is to provide force protection and maneuver elements with real time situational awareness and communications relay on the battlefield. The Tactical Aerostat asset should be designed to be expeditionary and rapidly deployable in austere harsh environments.

The Base Station will be utilized by members in the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) to relay messages to the alert aircrew's Portable Radios, which is critical for timely responses to real world situations. Charging Stations will allow for charging of multiple Portable Radios at once and will be used by off shift crews, as well as, alert crews in a common area within listening distance.

The RFP will be for the procurement of Ultra Electronics X500 Orion systems to fulfill the Navys requirement for its Amphibious Tactical Communications System (ATCS). ATCS is comprised of a radio, power amplifiers, antennas and other ancillary equipment and will replace the United States (US) Navys legacy AN/SRC-57 DWTS and Marine Corps AN/MRC-142B, which are Line-of-Sight (LOS) Tactical Radio Relay (TRR) shipboard and shore-based systems.
