This requires a robust seismic network. The STS-2 seismometer is a backbone of PTWC's seismic network and is needed to size up great earthquakes (M > 6.5) that can cause destructive tsunamis in Hawaiian waters. In order to maintain our network's availability PTWC needs to replace the failed STS-2s with the STS-2.5. PTWC requires a new seismometer to replace a broken Streckheisen STS-2 seismometer.
