The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Forest Service (FS), Intermountain Zone, Ashley National Forest has a need for treatment of approximately 870 Engelmann Spruce trees for spruce beetles, with Carbaryl 4L, on the Spirit Lake Campground. Amendment 001: The purpose of this amendment is to clarify that a contractor must have a Pesticide Applicator's License for this project.
The 35-year-old tunnel needs extensive repairs, and were it to fail, the lake could rise, break through the debris blockage and cause disastrous flooding in the Cowlitz and Toutle valleys.The multifaceted project focuses primarily on Spirit Lake’s drainage issues. Re-establishing the road from Windy Ridge to the south shore of the lake would allow access the area to take samples of the debris blockage holding back the lake.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking a Service Provider to retrofit all current lighting at Spirit Lake Fish Hatchery (SLFH) and the surrounding buildings and grounds to energy-efficient LED bulbs or fixtures. DNR anticipates that the term of any resulting contract will be January 24, 2019 through March 31, 2019.
Replacement of Roof at Spirit Lake DOT Maintenance Facility
Spirit Lake Fish Hatchery is located on the isthmus between Big Spirit Lake and East Okoboji Lake. The hatchery grounds will receive a new shop and storage building with the following roof functions: eight (8) non-conditioned storage bays, two (2) heated shop bays, one restroom, a mechanical room, and a storage room. The storage building will be 40’ x 142’ with eight (8) garage bays with an insulated shop measuring 40’ x 62’.
