The Building 2565 Fire Sprinkler System Replacement Project designs and replaces the existing fire sprinkler system from the backflow device to the system end in the warehouse portion of the 62,000 SF commercial structure.  An additive alternate is included for galvanized piping in the warehouse and inspection, system flush and head replacement for the two-story office portion of the building. 

Employ services of a Qualified Fire Protection Engineer (QFPE) to design and specify a replacement backflow prevention assembly for the fire sprinkler riser in Building 1045 per UFC 3-600-01, AWWA Manual M 14, UFGS 21 13 13 Wet Pipe Sprinkler Systems, Fire Protection, ASSE 1013, and ASSE 1015.

MFD Sprinkler Rules & Regs 2020 5 All new or existing sprinkler and standpipe systems that are modified shall be provided with an appropriate backflow prevention device between the water supply and the system riser(s). All sprinkler and standpipe systems shall have alarm initiating retarded water flow devices. All vane flow switches shall have a zero to sixty (0-60) second retard devices set to forty-five (45) seconds.

A Qualified Fire Protection Engineer will need to design and specify the replacement backflow assembly per UFC 3-600-01, para 9-6.6: the installation of a backflow preventer will follow AWWA Manual M 14, furthermore, per UFGS 21 13 13 Wet Pipe Sprinkler Systems, Fire Protection requires it to be a Double-check valve assembly backflow preventer complying with ASSE 1013, ASSE 1015 and AWWA M14.Per AFI32-1066, section 8.3, Backflow Prevention Devices
